Privacy policy.

We collect the least we can get away with, use it only to string your racket and talk to you about it, and never sell it. This page says exactly what that means.

Last updated 30 August 2026.

01What we collect

When you book a restring, we ask for:

Your name, so we know whose racket it is. Your email address and phone number, so we can confirm the booking and tell you when the racket is on its way back. The address we're collecting from and returning to. And the details of the job itself — racket, string, tension, and any notes you give us.

We don't run analytics, advertising trackers or third-party cookies on this site. We don't build profiles of visitors, and reading these pages doesn't put anything on your device.

02Why we collect it

To do the job you asked for and to contact you about it. That's the whole list. We use your email to send a booking confirmation and a message when your racket is ready, and we keep a record of past jobs so we can match the tension you liked last time without asking again.

We will not send you marketing email unless you ask us to, and if we ever do, every message will have a one-click way out.

03Payment details

If you pay by Interac e-Transfer, we see whatever your bank includes with the transfer, typically your name and the email address you sent it from.

04Who else sees it

Only the two of us, and the services we need to run the business: our website host, our database provider, our email provider, and Stripe for payments. Each of them only handles what they need to.

We don't sell your information, rent it, or share it for advertising. We'd only disclose it beyond the above if the law required us to.

05Where it's stored

Our website and database run on servers located in the United States. That means your information is stored outside Canada and may be accessible to US authorities under US law, including in circumstances where you would not be notified.

We tell you this because British Columbia's privacy legislation expects it, and because you should know where your address ends up before you hand it over.

06How long we keep it

We keep order records for seven years, because tax rules require us to keep records of what we sold and to whom.

If you ask us to delete your details and there's no outstanding job or unpaid invoice, we'll remove everything we're not legally required to retain, and we'll tell you what stayed and why.

07Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, and ask us to correct anything that's wrong. Email theracketlabvic@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days, which is the limit set by the Personal Information Protection Act.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy question, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

08Keeping it safe

Our database is not readable from the public internet: the website reads it server-side using credentials that never reach your browser, and the database itself denies access by default. Only the two of us can see customer records.

No system is perfect. If information is ever exposed in a way that could put someone at real risk of harm, we'll tell the people affected and the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.

09Children

We're happy to string a junior's racket, but the booking should be made by a parent or guardian, and we'd rather have the adult's contact details than the child's.

10Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll email you about it rather than quietly editing this page.
